Good news! The National Press Photographers Association is relaunching its student contest with a category for multimedia and a simplified way to enter online. Student members of NPPA can submit video, audio slideshows, projects or photos for the quarterly contest. You can enter work done during an internship and the work does not need to have been published (or broadcast).
Entries will be accepted from November 15 to November 22 for work produced in August, September and October. What you’re working on now through January can be entered in February 2010. The other two quarterly deadlines are in May and August.
Winners’ work will be featured on the NPPA website–a nice addition to any portfolio. So read the rules closely and get your entries in.
Also accepting entries soon: the Mark of Excellence awards from SPJ, with categories for television, online, radio and print. The awards honor the best in student journalism, which must have been published or broadcast in 2010. The deadline for entries is January 26, 2011.
